The Bible says that God is our ever-present help in times of need. He is the One you can run to and ask for help any time, any day, anywhere you might be, and for any purpose you might need. He won't just help you in your trouble – He will help you with yourself if you need it.
How to let the word of God dwell in you in a richer way
We need to let the word of Christ make its home in us, giving it the full liberty, freedom, and right in our being. Here are some ways to give God’s word more room within you.
First, take the Word as your daily food to nourish you each morning (Jer. 15:16; 1 Tim. 4:6). You can do this very effectively by pray-reading or praying over two or three Bible verses with spontaneous prayers of thanksgiving, praise, or petition.
Spend regular, daily times to read through the Bible (Acts 17:11). It is good to read through the books of the New and Old Testament consecutively, according to a schedule.
Sing the Word as the psalmists and early believers did (Col. 3:16). You can sing hymns full of Scriptures or turn the verse you’re enjoying to song. Hymnal.net is a great resource for this.
Find some like-minded companions with whom you can speak the Word–mutually teaching and admonishing one another (Col. 3:16).
In response to this word it’s good to pray,
“Lord, I offer my whole being to You and Your word. I give You access to every part of my inner being. Lord, make my inner being a home for You and for Your word. Lord, I choose to let your Word dwell in me richly so that all of its living functions can operate in me to carry out Your will.”

When we’re going through something difficult, we just want someone to look us in the eye and assure us, “It will be okay.” I don’t know what you’re facing now or what’s right around the corner, but I’d love to be that friend for you today. Straight out of God’s Word, here are ten ways you can know it’s going to be okay.
God is always, always, always good
“You are good and do good; teach me your statutes” (Ps. 119:68). ”The LORD is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made” (Ps. 145:9). God is good through and through. He is not floating on a cloud with a lightning bolt pulled back, ready to fire. Even when our circumstances feel really, really bad, we can have hope in our good God.
God loves you
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you” (Jer. 31:3).“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).Tough times are easier to face if you know someone is in your corner. God loves you deeply.
God is fighting for you
“They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you, for I am with you, declares the LORD, to deliver you” (Jer. 1:19).If you’re staring down an enemy and wondering how you can possibly triumph, take heart. The same God who helped David slay a nine-foot giant with one smooth stone fights for you. The same God who helped Joshua tear down a city with a trumpet blow fights for you.
God won’t waste this moment
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose (Rom. 8:28).Whatever you’re going through right now, God already has a plan to use it for your good.
He will never leave your side
“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you” (Deut. 31:6).“I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matt. 28:20). God will not jump ship when the going gets tough. Just like He joined Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace, He will stick with you when the going gets tough.
Today’s troubles are temporary
For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison (2 Cor. 4:17).This life is just a blip compared to eternity. It won’t always be this way.
Heaven is for real

Your tears will dry up
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away (Rev. 21:4). A day is coming when all crying will stop. Maybe you’ve cried buckets today, but a day is coming when all crying will stop.
You’re on your way to perfect
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing (James 1:2–4).
A white horse is riding to your rescue
Now I watched when the Lamb opened one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures say with a voice like thunder, “Come!” And I looked, and behold, a white horse! And its rider had a bow, and a crown was given to him, and he came out conquering, and to conquer (Rev. 6:1–2). If you’re longing for a rescuer, look no further than Jesus. The day is coming when He will ride in on a white horse and defeat every enemy that rises up against us. If you need a hero in this moment, know that He’s already on His way.

Stay on your Guard
“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8).
Passivity is the enemy of your mind. Just as a soldier mustn’t fall asleep or allow himself to daydream while on guard duty—so it is with your mind. Satan can’t read your thoughts; however, he can influence your mind with evil thinking especially condemning words towards yourself. You must remember that “greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). The devil can’t handle the Word of God spoken in faith—this is the reason he had to depart from Jesus because He said “It is written…” Don’t be afraid to speak aloud to negative thoughts with what God’s word declares.
Stretch your Faith
“Because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance” (James 1:3).
Many of us who’ve spent a lifetime with negative self-thinking can’t imagine doing things beyond our capabilities. Yet that is exactly where God wants you to be. It’s when we believe and trust God beyond our abilities that we come to understand who we really are in Christ. We are overcomers by our spiritual nature and born again to trample over demonic strongholds in building up the kingdom of God. Your faith will be strengthened as you embrace God’s word as truth and live your life honoring Him through obedience. Faith stretching is a necessary part of becoming new in your thought life.
Renew your mind
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2).
Sometimes we entertain negative thoughts because of what others have said to us. We’ve been called stupid, ugly, or worse—and when we hit a low point of our lives, these are the very words we hear in our minds. However, God’s word affirms our value and worth in Jesus Christ. We were created for a divine purpose and God knows how to use our weakness to bring strength to the body of Christ. By memorizing and meditating on Scripture, we can renew our pattern of thinking to reflect what God says rather than what man has said.
Learn a new language
“Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life” (John 6:68).
In order to close the door on negative self-talk, it will be necessary to replace all negativity with words of hope and life from God’s word. Pray and search for selected passages of Scriptures that encourage your thoughts towards righteousness and truth. Proverbs 139 reveals how God knew you before you were born and has a purpose for your life. 1 Peter 2:9 affirms that you are chosen by God and 2 Corinthians 5:17 reveals how you are a new creature in Christ Jesus. Speak those scriptures out loud to yourself until it becomes your habit to speak truthful words instead of the lies.
Change your Focus
“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things” (Colossians 3:2).
The temptation to compare ourselves with other people can lead down the road towards negative self-talk. It’s important to shift your focus from looking at what God does for other people to what God is showing you about your life. The body of Christ is rich in diversity and spiritual gifts. Each child of God is gifted in some way to benefit and build up the church. By focusing on what is eternal (rather than what is earthly and temporary) your mind will be drawn towards hope, joy, and peace in Jesus Christ rather than your situation.
Counter the Negative
“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5).
No one is going to show up and make you think differently. You are the one that has the responsibility of taking every thought captive and making it obey Christ. This will require diligence and effort by refusing every negative or sinful thought with scripture. As a believer, you have the power through the Holy Spirit to overcome the evil thoughts. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 is an especially effective verse to memorize when your thoughts wander off to the negative. This scripture will build up your confidence so that the stronghold weakens and eventually is demolished in your mind.
What to think about?
Paul instructed in Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Practice training your thoughts towards what is listed above and you will find yourself becoming a stronger, more confident child of God.
